This year, we are using essential learnings (a.k.a. EL's) in related arts. The elementary art teachers in the district have identified three art standards for each each grade level that are essential for students to master each year. Grades are based on a 4 point scale. In our Art room, I have a variety of assessment tools for the kiddos to test what they are learning about each E.L. I turn the assessments into games, scavenger hunts, and other fun styles so that the kiddos do not feel pressured and so they can perform better because they are loving what they are doing. Below is a basic 4 point scale and further below are links to each grade's E.L. targets.
4- The student is performing above grade level expectations for this EL
3- The student has reached mastery for this EL
2- The student knows and can use some of the skills necessary to reach mastery for this EL
1- The student cannot use this skill without help
0- The student does not know how to use this skill even with help
Below you will find links to the essential learnings for each grade level:
- Kindergarten
- First Grade
- Second Grade
- Third Grade
- Fourth Grade
- Fifth Grade
